About Jenn

Hi, I’m Jenn. I’m a 42 year old woman living in the heart of the Lehigh Valley in eastern Pennsylvania. I grew up in Monroe County PA, smack dab in the middle of the Poconos, surrounded by more housing developments and cheesy honeymoon resorts than you could shake a stick at. I love living in a semi-urban area with access to art, culture, and restaurants that don’t have “Pit” in the name, but I fully accept and embrace my redneck pedigree. Just don’t expect me to watch NASCAR.

I work in healthcare, and while I enjoy my job, it’s not something I ever envisioned myself doing at age 50. But it probably will be. If I ever hit the MegaMillions, I’m going into business as a younger, Pennsylvania-based version of Ina Garten.

I’m an only child who’s incredibly close to her parents. It is with no irony that I say my mom is my best friend. I just argue with her a whole lot more than my other friends.

I’m a homeowner, and love to dream about new projects and home renovations that my dad is kind enough to help me with when time and money shake hands. I love to throw dinner parties, barbecues, host brunch, game night,  or even just have everyone over for a movie marathon, complete with stovetop popcorn and Milk Duds.

I’m a big goofball, with tendencies toward the immature. I’m also a bit nerdy, in the “I adore Buffy, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, The Avengers, and Harry Potter” sense. I love puppies, pop culture with the exception of reality TV shows, horrible pop music from the 90’s, and am incredibly awkward in public.

In early 2014, I had weight loss surgery in the form of a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. You can read all about it here. The surgery has impacted my life in a hugely positive way, and while I will share my thoughts and experiences with it often, it will not be the main focus of this space.

In the summer of 2014 I adopted two goofball cats, Sam and Dean Winchester. They are adorable jerks and I love them. I’ll try not to go too crazy cat lady here, though.

On this site I hope to share all sorts of recipes, talk about entertaining and the various events I attend in the area, and even make you laugh with some everyday stories.

Thanks for stopping by,  and I’ll try to make it worth your while.
